State and Territory Child Care Administrators Meeting. Strengthening Partnerships: Forging Future Foundations, July 29-30, 2008, Mandarin Oriental, Washington, DC
 

The Child Care Bureau's 2008 State and Territory Child Care Administrators Meeting will take place Tuesday, July 29, and Wednesday, July 30, 2008, at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel, 1330 Maryland Avenue, S.W., Washington, DC 20024.

A pre-meeting day for State and Territory Child Care Administrators and Federal staff will take place on Monday, July 28, 2008.

This year's theme will include presentations on :

  • Subsidy Administration
  • Partnerships, Collaboration and Coordination
  • Quality
  • Health and Safety
  • Professional Development

Plenary and breakout sessions

This year's theme, Strengthening Partnerships: Forging Future Foundations, will include plenary and workshop sessions focusing on five themes:
  • Subsidy Administration: practical hands-on tools and innovative strategies for effectively promoting and administering subsidy programs;
  • Partnerships, Collaboration and Coordination: strategies for creating coordinated, cost-effective, and sustainable early childhood systems that meet the needs of all children and families;
  • Quality: methods to define, measure, and improve quality, including the use of CCDF quality funds to foster family self-sufficiency and child well being, and the latest research findings on quality measures and quality rating system evaluations;
  • Health and Safety: partnerships and systems that ensure young children’s health and safety, in addition to strategies for responding to health and safety threats to children, families, and communities; and
  • Professional Development: the latest professional development research and implications for policy and practice, including methods for measuring impact, and strategies for sustaining cross-sector professional development systems.

Who Should Attend?

This year's State and Territories Administrators Meeting is for:

  • State and Territory CCDF administrators and their selected staff members (no more than four per State or Territory including the administrator or their designee––who have been selected by the administrator
  • Federal staff members
  • Child Care Technical Assistance Network (CCTAN) Partners
  • Selected invited speakers
  • CCPRC researchers

Resource Area

Resources from the Child Care Bureau’s CCTAN Partners, Federal agencies, and State or Territory administrators will be displayed. The materials will include books, brochures, research findings, surveys, videos, and tabletop displays.
