Directions to the Hotel

The closest airports to the hotel are Reagan Washington National (National) Airport (approximately a 15-minute drive) and Dulles International (Dulles) Airport (approximately a 45-minute drive). Baltimore-Washington International Thurgood Marshall (BWI) Airport is a bit further (approximately a 1 1/4 -hour drive).

From the Airports to the Hotel

Taxi
A taxi from National Airport to the Mandarin Oriental, Washington DC, is approximately $15-20 each way, from Dulles Airport approximately $50, and from BWI Airport approximately $65. Taxis are available at each of these airports. Metrorail (Metro) service is available from National Airport to the Mandarin Oriental on the Blue Line. (See the Metro directions below.)

Shuttle Service
SuperShuttle provides transportation from National and Dulles airports to the hotel. From National and Dulles Airports you do not need a reservation. • From National Airport: The one-way cost is $12 per person. Collect your baggage and follow the signs for ground transportation; this will take you outside the airport to the curb. Look for the SuperShuttle staff wearing blue shirts with an insignia and tell them you are going to the Mandarin Oriental hotel on Maryland Avenue, S.W., in Washington, DC.
• From Dulles Airport: The one-way cost is $27 per person. Collect your baggage and go to the lower level and look for the SuperShuttle ticket counter located inside the building before the east or west exit. Tell them you are going to the Mandarin Oriental hotel on Maryland Avenue, S.W., in Washington, DC.

Metro at National Airport
The only airport that has a Metro station is National Airport. The stop is adjacent to terminals B and C. Take the pedestrian walkway from the airport terminal’s concourse to the station.

Walking to the Hotel From Smithsonian Metro Station
The closest Metro station to the hotel is Smithsonian, which is on the Blue and Orange Lines. From the Smithsonian station, exit at Independence Avenue, which is located at the corner of Independence Avenue and 12th Street, S.W. Walk south on 12th Street (away from the National Mall––about 2 1/2 blocks). Turn right onto Maryland Avenue and proceed to the end of the block; the hotel is on the left side. (Maryland Avenue ends at the hotel) It is approximately a 3 1/2 -block walk from the Smithsonian station to the hotel.

Walking to the Hotel From the L’Enfant Plaza Metro Station
From the L’Enfant Plaza Metro station, which is on the Blue, Orange, Green, and Yellow Lines, exit at D Street. Turn left and continue on D Street and cross 12th Street. D Street turns into Maryland Avenue. The hotel is at the end of the block on the left. It is approximately a four-block walk from the L’Enfant Plaza Metro station to the hotel.

Metro Service Hours
The operating hours for the Metro begin at 5 a.m. on weekdays and 7 a.m. on weekends. The Metro closes at 12 midnight on Sunday thru Thursday, and 3 a.m. on Friday and Saturday. The base subway fare is $1.35 and increases during rush hour and for longer trips. Rail fare cards can be purchased at the vending machines located inside the stations. Driving

From Points South (Richmond and National Airport)
Take I-395 north/US-1 north and exit toward Washington, DC. If coming from National Airport, take the George Washington (GW) Parkway north to get to I-395 north. Stay left and follow the signs for US Route 1. This will put you on 14th Street, S.W. Turn right onto C Street and continue two blocks. Turn right onto 12th Street and follow it for two more blocks to Maryland Avenue. The hotel is at 1330 Maryland Avenue, S.W.

From Points West (Annandale, Winchester, and Dulles Airport)
Follow I-66 east to US-50 as it becomes Constitution Avenue. Turn right on 3rd Street, N.W., across the National Mall. Turn right on E Street, S.W., turn right on 6th Street, and turn left on D Street; this becomes Maryland Avenue. Continue past 12th Street. The hotel is located at 1330 Maryland Avenue, S.W.

From Points North (New York) and Points East (Annapolis and BWI Airport)
Follow I-295 south (Baltimore-Washington Parkway) toward Washington, DC. Merge onto US-50 west, which becomes New York Avenue, N.E. Turn left onto I-395 south and follow it to the 12th Street, S.W., exit. Bear left onto the D Street offramp, turn left onto 12th Street, continue one block, and turn right onto Maryland Avenue. The hotel is located at 1330 Maryland Avenue, S.W.

From Points Northwest (Rockville and Frederick, Maryland)
Follow I-270 south to I-495 south (the Capitol Beltway) and bear right at the split toward Northern Virginia. Take the GW Parkway, Exit 43. Proceed on the GW Parkway and take the Roosevelt Bridge exit. While crossing the bridge, follow the road onto Constitution Avenue toward downtown. Turn right on 3rd Street, N.W., across the National Mall. Turn right on E Street, S.W., and then right on 6th Street. Turn left on D Street; this becomes Maryland Avenue. Continue across 12th Street; the hotel is at 1330 Maryland Avenue, S.W.

From Independence Avenue, S.W.
Proceed toward 12th Street, S.W.—between the Smithsonian Institution and the U.S. Department of Agriculture. Turn south onto 12th Street (not under the National Mall) and proceed three blocks. Turn right on Maryland Avenue and proceed up the driveway. The hotel is located at 1330 Maryland Avenue, S.W.

Parking

Daily parking is available at the Central Parking garage at the Portals Building, which is located next to the hotel at 1250 Maryland Avenue. The garage is located around the corner and below the building. The cost is $16 per day or $12 per day (early-bird special—in by 8 a.m.). The hours of operation are 6 a.m. – 8 p.m. (Please note that the garage closes promptly at 8 p.m. and that there are no in-and-out privileges.)

The hotel offers valet parking only. The cost is $19 for 2 hours, $25 for all day, and $42.60 for overnight (in-and-out privileges).
